TAOM 2010

0
Well ladies and gents, this week kicks off the Texas Association of Magicians 2010 Conference, one of the best magic confrences avaliable! With a line up of Whit Hayden, Jeff McBride, Max Maven, Michael Weber, David DeCampos, and Doug Gorman, this is going to be a convention to remember!

Not only that, dear readers, but to kick start the entire convention there is the First Annual Austin Street Magic Festival! It's happening this Thursday, 2 September, on 6th Street at Red River as well as in and out of the bars around there. It's going to be a jam-packed night of magical insanity! So if you can make it down there between 5pm and 2am, you'll get to see some of the best performers you will ever witness!

Now down to the real work of TAOM.
As anyone who has been to TAOM can tell you, the real convention is not in the lecture rooms or performance halls. The real convention happens during meal times and after the last lecture is over for the night. The real work is groups of magicians stashed away around small tables in dark corners or hidden in tiny nooks in the hallways of the hotel discussing the intimate secrets of our art.

Some are working away at the newest card sleight while others are discussing the intimate details of performance while others still hold mock competitions to see who can do the best effect with the strangest object. All of these occur in hushed whispers around the smell of fresh brewed coffee or cans of Red Bull.

How the typical all-nighter stays awake through the lectures.

You spend all night with these people and the next day everyone shuffles in and out of the lectures and shows, all existing in a delerious state of magical knowledge and caffene-coma, each of them sharing a secret glance with the others from the night before, silently mocking the bright-eyed convention goers who slept all night. They were now part of an even more secret fraternity: The Real Magicains.

So make sure that you attend the real TAOM 2010. You won't be the same afterwards.
